Signs of Spring

My Daffodils

Spring is around the corner, in my neck of the woods, as you can tell from my daffodils in bloom. With spring comes the opportunity for us the cleanse our bodies and build them back up from the winter fast. With spring comes cleansing foods as well as foods very high in important vitamins, mainly A, D and K2.

The traditional cultures Dr. Price studied new the importance of the tender spring grass for their health and the health of their cows, where their health come from. The cows would go out to pasture on this very important vitamin rich grass and in return produce milk and cream very high in vitamins A, D, and K2. These cultures understood just how important these were for the next generation, they were thinking of the next generation before their parents were born, growing children, women of child bearing age and in some cultures the husbands of women in child bearing years and those who were sick. These vitamins are the highest in the spring and then again in the fall. Dr. Price called them the "activators", because their presences helped the other vitamins and minerals to function at optimum levels. Foods such as the cream and butter fat were the most highly prized foods of the spring as well as the organs and flesh when they were consumed. If you are lucky enough to be able to drink raw milk from a dairy farm who pastures their cows, spring is the best time to consume this milk. Many people will do a raw milk fast in the spring to cleanse their blood, heal their bodies of many aliments and rebuild their nutrition stores.

Not only are the most important vitamins of A, D and K2 present in the fat of the cows, we are also given other green plants and foods that will soon be ready for us to eat. These will help to naturally detox the body. Foods like kale, Swiss chard, asparagus, lettuce, lemons, radishes, rhubarb, as well as a few others are all in-season in the spring. These foods are alkaline, and cleanse the body. Another nutrient dense food is eggs. The chickens are also out eating bugs and the young grasses, so they are healthier as well.

Be sure to take full advantage of the yummy and highly nutrious spring butter!
Saving the world one stick of butter at a time.
God bless,
Jenn
